M38A1CDN Data Plates

I know a guy that says he has some old M38A1CDN data plates with no number after the cdn. He says that the plates have Ford Motor Corp on them. Did Ford Manufacture M38A1CDN's, if yes, what years did they make them, how many, and what was the plant location? Thanks

Yes, the M38A1CDN was built by Ford Canada. Not sure of the production run total but it probably started very late 1952 and ran into late 1953. I think the only facility they were still operating out of at that time was their Windsor, Ontario site. They did open a facility of Oakville, Ontario in the 1950's, I think, but I do not know if it was production or admin related.

For $9.95 you can have all of the answers to these questions by purchasing a copy of Weapons of War #20 M-38A1 1/4-ton Truck in Canadian Service by Andrew Iarocci. Or better yet, get your local library to purchase a copy.

Hi Retsarg. Search around on this site. There is a bit of Info on the 1953 M38A1's. Here is a link to some of the production information, however there appears to be some question about the records regarding the actual quantity produced...http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...8a1+production
