Rust pitting

Rust pitting on armoured plate...........What's the general consensus? Leave as a mark of the vehicle's history / past........Use great quantities of filler to produce that production line finish !!!

Many Thanks........

Jeff

PS

Still tracking down T16 parts if anyone has any offers.........

filler

Depending upon the degree of pitting that you have, there is a product here in Canada which is commonly used called hi-fill or hi-solids primer. The intent of this product is to build up thickness, almost a spray Bondo if you will, that is very easy to sand and can almost be "run" to fill in imperfections. It can be applied at a very heavy rate and is very good. It can be applied in several layers to get what you need.

I personally like to see some "patina" on a vehicle, if it is too smooth the steel looks just too new to me. Chris' suggestion might be a nice middle of the road solution.

Good luck with the restoration, share some pics with us sometime eh?!

Hanno
