Authoritative Source for Correct Vehicle Marking

(I'm a noob here at MLU, so for all I know you've all seen this website....)

The Armoured Acorn (http://www.armouredacorn.com/) is the place to check before you apply tac/unit markings to your vehicle.

I had a couple of questions concerning the WW2 markings on a CMP ('coz if they were original I sure as shooting wasn't going to grind them off!) and Barry quickly and courteously* replied to my email.

* Hey, he's 'Armour' and I was 'Infantry' and that feud's been going on a while now)

"Armoured Acorn" web-site............

'Evening All,

Does anyone know what's happened to the "Armoured Acorn" web-site? every time I try to access it I get a message from WiX.com saying " Looks Like This Domain Isn't Connected To A Website Yet!".

It's been like this for a while now.

Cheers,

Chris Preston,

Yes, it has been gone for at least all of 2017, and I believe part of 2016.

If you google armoured acorn and look at images, most of the pages will come up on there, mostly on something called yumpu.

Try this archive site.

https://web.archive.org/web/20161029...uredacorn.com/

The site seems to have gone dormant about 2014, after a refresh in 2008.

Is Barry Beldam here on MLU? It is such a shame that the Armoured Acorn website is no more. The site had a wealth of info on Unit structure and Canadian Markings.
I did manage to save some of it through Wayback machine, but sadly a lot seem to have been lost.

Anyone know if Barry has a new site somewhere? Or if Barry would be willing to share the info here on MLU?

Alex

Alex,

This site was in invaluable resource indeed. Luckily, the Internet Archive has captured some it, though not everything - see https://web.archive.org/web/20090207...uredacorn.com/ (not sure if this is the latest date).

Of Barry I cannot find a trace in the member database, though he is mentioned on here often.

Yes, as mentioned above I did check wayback machine and downloaded a lot of Barry's work there.....but there are considerable gaps in the files available.
