WW1 Canadian truck
 

Here's a WW1 picture of my uncle Jack Bushman sitting on the fender of a Canadian Karrier truck in France or Belgium in 1917 or 1918. He served with the 7th Battalion of Canadian Railway Troops.

David, I'm unsure as to your intended meaning of "Canadian Karrier truck", this may well show the truck in Canadian service but its not of Canadian manufacture. I'm pretty sure the vehicle is a British Karrier WDS 3 ton truck. Its covered in the "first" (to 1940) Vanderveen on page 203.

Whoever the hell's service it was in, it doesn't matter! Neat truck, and now with a personal history to-boot!

I wonder if any of these still exist.

Have you any other photos of your uncle in that time and space?

that is a neat picture. It is nice to see photos of these WW1 trucks and to have the history behind the photo as well is even better.

Like Geoff has asked would you have any other pics of this time period you would share with us?

Sorry guys, that's the only picture I have. Jack's outfit was at Ypres, Passchendale, Messines Ridge, etc., right in the heat of things on the western front and they didn't even get to carry guns for the most part.

Yup, understood. I wish we had more of this WWI stuff, the whole bit seems to be overshadowed by the later war, whereas the First World War did so much to advance vehicle use and technology.
