Edenvale Ontario Airshow 13 Aug 2017

Report from Edenvale airport... located in rural Ontario countryside. (South of Wasaga Beach on Georgian Bay.)
RCAF training base during WW2. No.1 SFTS was a detachment of Camp Borden, and part of BCATP. Has an Annual FlyIn with classic aircraft and automobiles. Plus a fine display of local Military vehicles. The visiting WW2 training aircraft included a Canadian style Tiger Moth, a Cornell that honours the brave Norwegian airmen..and one of the very few Fleet Finches in accurate wartime configuration with the enclosed canopy. An active and thriving airfield today. Home to a group that maintains its wartime RCAF heritage. The Army Types arrived early and set up a nice assortment. S. Marshall polished his Brit. machine and Gary Cailes arrived shortly after in his C60 wrecker. Chad Marshall displayed his very nice dispatch riders bike. |

Very interesting to talk to Chad. He's way above me in things British.
Apparently the turret has been repurposed off of other armour. Would appreciate hearing the back-story on that turret. |

Thanks Robin,
From your information it would seem the turret was taken from the Fox armoured car. A bit of ungainly kit it would seem. You would think the Fox turret fitted to the Scorpion hull would be a good combination...but apparently not. I wonder why. Dennis. |

A nice M38A1 and a Mk II* carrier was also on display.

The carrier was well turned out. Chad mentioned it was carefully based on...and in honour of a family friend...a veteran of the N.W.E. Campaign. Nice to see someone cares enough to do that.
