M109A1 Howitzer Powerpack
 

This is a low hour powerpack taken from a M109A1 Howitzer SPG. It is comprised of a 8V71T Detroit turbocharged diesel engine with Allison XTG-411-2A cross drive. This is a direct bolt in for the M109 and is missing nothing. The M109 was driven into the shop and the pack carefully removed before the M109 was welded shut. I have had the pack running and it runs great. The cross-drive transmission has 4 fwd speeds and 2 reverse, all controlled along with braking inside the transmission. Steering control is still attached to engine and included. I have also changed the engine oil and filters as well as the transmission fluid.

Originally I had bought the pack to use to re-power my Type 69 Iraqi tank as the Israelis had done with their captured Soviet made tanks in the Tiran series and with the Achzarit heavy APC.

I have since obtained a few of the Russian V-12 diesels and have been working on restoring the Type 69 to stock.

This is the perfect pack for anyone who has a vehicle in the M109 family or to re-power other military vehicles with a modern drive-train.
