Hi Board,

Thought you might like too see a recent sunday drive a few friends and I took around the sunny Waiouru army training area, located in the central north island of New Zealand.

All vehicles belong to the "ARMY MUSEUM" and thanks must go to the staff and volunteers who with out there help and expertise this day would not have happened.

Regards,

Brent Delaney.

LP1?

Is it an LP1? I think what Waiouru has is one of the six Thorneycroft-built "Carrier, Bren, No2, Mk1". Built in 1938 and delivered to NZ in April 1939.

Bren Carrier Vs LP1

British carriers have flat wheel spokes (see above pic) but LP1 and LP2/2a carriers have "H" section wheel spokes.

Hi Tony,

You know I think your quite right as I do remember hereing that when I was there.

I must admitt I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to the various models and marks:o

Will you be coming over again for Wings over Waiarapa at Wellington aniversary weekend (January 2005)

We hope to have a few surprises turn up, give you a hint one of them is on this thread.

Take care,

Brent D.

The last time I was in Waiouru, Mt Ruapehu was erupting (in the background, fourth pic) chucking 1 tonne boulders for kilometres and belching smoke and ash, so that our flight to Taupo was cancelled and we Rent-a-car'd it instead. Will there be another volcanic eruption in late January in those Shaky Isles of yours?

43 C8AX?
43 GPW?
43 CCKW 353 H1?
BANTAM T3?
or F60L Holmes Wrecker?

Hi Hanno,

Yes my GPW will be there, but I was refering to one or more of the Waiouru Museum's armoured vehicles, depends on transport
arrangements (our transporter is not quite ready yet!).

The show I have mentioned to Tony is to be held in Masterton at the Hood airdrome on the 3rd weekend of January 2005.

This event is now held Bi annual and is a smaller version of the wings over Wanaka (World class air show in the South Island of New Zealand).

My family was aiming to have 10 vehicles of various descriptions arrive via a short convoy from our place approx 20 km away.

But as usual where starting to leave things to the last minute.

Cheers,

Brent D.
