Specifically an R209 Mk.1 in Carrier, Set No.48. :D
See: http://www.royalsignals.org.uk/R209-all.htm It's the original late-WW2 6-volt version (later there were 12V (Mk.2) and selectable (via different power cables) 12/24V DC or 110/240V AC (Mk.2/B) versions. Chris. |
R209 Mk.1 in Carrier, Set No.48
I will pass this info on.
Were these compatible to the 19 Set? I guess we used them for a period of time before being replaced by the C42 family. Thanks Eric |

Frequency coverage is wider than the WS19 - as it was used with the WS53. 1.0 to 20 MHz, the WS19 covers 2 to 8 MHz, and the WS53 1.2 to 17.5 MHz. Could be used as a "staff car radio" and also for listening to long distance transmissions, whereas the C42 was designed for short(-ish) range in tanks . (It's HF, not VHF.) They really are a very nice little receiver, and very reliable. Chris. |
Chris, Your page doesn't cover the Canadian R209 C1. It's different from the others, no?
