Chevy rear engine mounts
1 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone.
I assume that these bolts are not supposed to have any wear groves in them? These are the four bolts that hold the rear engine mounts to the bell housing. They came off my wartime engine. The 2nd one still has some khaki green paint on it. |
Looks like they might last another 75 years
Hi Jordan
Not bad wear for 75 years, how egged were the mounting holes? Did they seem tight or had they backed off? Interesting what you find when restoring these trucks, all and all they were pretty tough to have lasted the way they have. Every time I think about it I wonder how many of todays vehicles will be around in 75 years. Cheers Phil |
The holes on the mounts were fine. I’ve put them back in for now so that I could move the engine onto the cart.

Sometimes broken....
Of the many CMP rolling stock that we have taken apart over the years we have found a few such bolts broken off even with the bracket...... all were removed with a welded nut.
Those four bolts must take a lot stress with the inherent flex of the CMP frame and engine torque. Cheers |
