Painting Question

I have a Question regarding painting a Canadian M151A2 that I have been restoring , the body is primed and ready to paint .What I am wondering is if I should lay down a few coats of olive drab on the entire body and than when camoflaging the truck use the pee green and black to finish up ? I noticed when painting the Cdn M38 "s a base coat of olive is sprayed than the camoflage is sprayed .Would this not be the same for the A2 ?

They came from the US in semi gloss US green. When camouflaged in Cdn service, they would be painted a 3 colour camouflage pattern. There are two greens (olive drab and flat green (often referred to as pea green) and the flat black.

If you search back a bit through this forum, you will find the cam pattern shown.

I usually found the inside of the jeep and the dash to still be in the semi gloss green, but all that would change with one enthusiastic trooper and a paint brush.

Brian Asbury from Acton carries (or carried) the Cdn olive colour. For the flat green, you can order the Gillespie 383 CARC green substitute, and for the black the tremclad oil based flat black stands up well.
