Gun, 6 inch BL Mk VII info wanted
Gents,
Looking for technical, ammunition data and especially crew drill info on the above weapon, used widely for coastal defence across the British Empire during WW2. Also interested to learn about an item called a 'Clarkson Case' used to transfer the bagged propellant charge from the magazine to the gun platform. Don't need originals: just the info. Thanks Mike |
Time Of Flight Indicator
1 Attachment(s)
G'day Mike,
I have a brass disc that states it is a Time Of Flight Indicator for Full and 2/3 Charge loads for a 6 inch BL, but it states for a MkX1, rather than Mk7 as you have asked for. Is this is helpful for your research I can dig it out and get some good images of it to you. I think it is double-sided as well... See pic to get an idea of what I mean. Jared |
Thanks, yes
Hi Jared,
Yes, images would be good please. High res to my email address (which I think you still have?) would be appreciated. Thanks Mike |
Thank you
Thanks to those who responded via the thread or PM: got everything I needed, thank you!
My request was the result of recently taking a guided tour of a shore battery that was reportedly equipped with the 6 inch BL Mk VII, and was more than a little taken aback by some of the claims concerning its manning and operation. The various manuals now received confirm that I was right to be sceptical. Mike |
