Nice Day for a Drive

Just fitted the new canvas set from Beachwood Canvas to the Willys MB, and thought it was a great day for a drive in the Washington countryside.

Enjoy!

Very nice Mike.
I took the blitz on a club run to Mannus lake, vastly different ground cover to yours.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Quite a contrast to California Mike, and a lot of other places. I would be curious to know how you ended up in such an obscure location. Seems to be a nice choice though.

Ah California the land of eucalypts , wonder if that's been a factor in the recent bushfires there.

Can't see a LHD warning sign on the rear of Mike's Jeep , I think they have dropped that legal requirement here but I would still have one for safety reasons

A local swap meet yesterday, a chap had new aftermarket WW2 Jeep clutch plates for $20 .

Little playing a little working in the SNOW

Hi Mike

Always nice to start the Winter Season with a little drive in the snow. Sometimes this is by design and some times out of necessity. This year it was a little of both, I had scheduled a freight delivery for Nov 20th, and the weather decided to add to the fun with one of those nice wet sticky snow storms. Wouldn't you know it the truck driver didn't want to drive down our dirt road and dirt drive, with a trailer truck. Not that I blame him at all as all my CMPs needed 4x4 drive to pull out of garage on flat ground.

Of course the truck I need was in the back of the storage bay so both trucks had to come out and the crate had to go into the shop so all three CMPs got exercised.

Yes, the crate is a tool, but that's a topic for a new post, to come soon.

Military tires particularly the "non-directional" are not particularly good on plowed snow, even on flat ground, add a little slope and the non-directional definition takes on a new meaning, as sliding to the side as well as sliding forward and aft or any combination all at the same time. I've found they work fine in unplowed snow.

Cheers Phil

LHD sign

"Can't see a LHD warning sign on the rear of Mike's Jeep , I think they have dropped that legal requirement here but I would still have one for safety reasons"

That's because, in the USA, we drive on the right side of the road, in left hand drive vehicles, so a Caution sign would not be useful.

Driving on the right side of the road took some getting used to, but we can now switch from one country to another without much trouble, as we regularly do when visiting the UK.

Dave, we did a 'desk top study' before we moved, matching what we liked and didn't like with locations in the USA, then visited each. Eastern Washington soon rose to the top of the pile, and Spokane is the largest city in the area with an airport. Though now, after nearly 9 years here, the recent changes to state firearms laws with the adoption of Initiative 1639, I'm having second thoughts (but I don't think we will be moving anytime soon!!)

Phil, nice lot of snow you are having there, much more than the sprinkle we received here, much of which has already melted. I'll look forward to the thread about 'The Box' - that's some tool!

Print on the box......

Tried to enlarge to see what it was.....

I think it says.... do not open til Xmas.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you guys tell what it is???? I think it's a pan box brake that requires assembly.

Anybody else wants to wild guess what it is????

Snow wise...... we in Ottawa have had snow on the ground since the last few days of October.....Blah!!!! got as cold as -20C a few days ago now we have rain turning to snow...... everything is a soggy mess and the ground is barely frozen on top for a few inches.....and Winter has not even arrived yet.

Not much chance of bush fires up your way then Bob?
Global warming, bah humbug!
