WW2 Morris Commercial history
Came across this by chance.

Amazing stuff in there Mike.
Hard to believe that the Brits lost 21,000 trucks at Dunkirk but had replaced them in 120 days. That's 175 per day! This is quite different from the USA's 1942 production, having had time to gear up. Great read! Thank you for posting. :note: |
In the Story is a picture from a CMP quad , and a C8 in a movie .

Article
Although the MCC article is very interesting ,I feel the author should have titled the piece with a more appropriate header. The article appears to describe British WW2 transport in general with very little references to Morris-Commercials in particular !

I agree with you there. Their was reference to Austins at the start of the article but I could find nothing within the article that mentioned them specifically. Maybe the writer was unaware that Morris and Austin were not associated with each other until c.1952 when the British Motor Corporation (BMC) was formed. That being said, it is a little known fact that Austin Motor Co. actually built some of the WW2 Morris Commercial military vehicles. Austin must have had a larger manufacturing capacity than MCC I assume. regards, Richard |
