Correct Engine confirmation
2 Attachment(s)
Hi All, I'm asking if anyone can verify if a 1941 216ci from a chev pick up is identical to a 216 from a chevy blitz. If there are differences what would they be?The photo below is supposedly a 1941 splasher with pic of block caste #. no one has been able to identify from the caste number or engine # CR139042. both engines are seized and I wish to rebuild what will be the better of the two. The 43 has been full of water the 41 hasn't. Glad to have some insight. Thanks

Engine
Hi
It appears to be a standard domed piston Canadian made 216 as fitted into many GMH assembled vehicles. Does it have the two hole water pump ? I think they changed the valve stem length around 1941 to accomodate the valve spring caps . BTW there were many nos domed pistons available , Uptons at Corowa had crates of them, along with a few LVT's ! |

My blitz engine, the rocker cover has the oil filler near the rear for ease of filling through a door in the engine cover.

Thanks guys

This link will definitely gonna help you. "C" stands for Commercial.R for right hand drive.Yes its Canadian..Here block number shows 3835124 which starts from 1946.You can search with your block number. So may be its from 46 "216" http://www.gregwapling.com/hotrod/ch...dian-chev.html Regards Davis |
Heads
Following on from the info Davis linked to, if its a 46 engine it might have flat top pistons fitted. Be aware the heads will not change over , a few people have discovered the trap ! If a flat top piston type head is fitted with domed pistons disaster awaits !

This is a 216 I picked up a few years ago. It came out of a CMP truck. It still hade the original rad hoses on it.

Head issues

The C60L project continues with an engine tear down of a canadian 1946 Chev 216ci. This alternative is being evaluated due to my original 1943 GM Chev 216 found to have a sump full of water. Both are seized and I'm debating which way to go. One of the lifter rods (as pictured below) was bent so I am concerned which way to go. As normal. all input gratefully accepted. =)
