New Zealand Pattern Wheeled Armoured Carrier projects

Hi I am selling my NZ wheeled pattern carrier projects. They are the New Zealand copy of the Indian pattern carrier, The chassis were built in Canada dated 1943 and then local bodies were built in NZ. In total they made 67 of these carriers with perhaps 5 remaining and as far as I know these are the only two outside of NZ.

Project 1: Chassis returned to original configuration, sand blasted, undercoated and top coated. Complete with gearbox, transfer box, all linkages and V8 engine with all specialised parts for this model. Hull is cut down to the wing height, armoured radiator shield and most of engine compartment is there. New pistol ports, floor and front hatches and newly cast handles for the pistol ports.

Project 2: Chassis returned to original configuration, complete with gearbox, transfer box, all linkages and specialised engine parts to convert a standard flathead V8. Hull has been cut lengthways but is missing about one third of one side. New pistol ports, floor and newly cast handles for the pistol ports.

Read more about the NZ built Wheeled Armoured Carrier, Indian Pattern. 76 of these were built by the NZ Railways and Ford NZ on rear engined Ford CMP chassis, and closely followed the Indian design.

Restoration of an Indian Pattern Wheeled Armoured Carrier

In the promotional video of The Weald Foundation - see https://www.wealdfoundation.org/About - a member of their staff mentions they have a plan to acquire and restore an Indian Pattern Wheeled Armoured Carrier. Some pictures of the well-known Mk.IVs in Kabul, Afghanistan, are shown. It would be great to see those examples saved. Let’s see what they reveal in due time!

Weald Foundation has taken over the New Zealand Pattern Carrier project

I received the following message from Hilary Louis Doyle last week:

It has taken awhile but as promised, I wanted to let you know officially from this week the Weald Foundation has taken over the New Zealand Pattern Carrier project.
The Trustees of the charity known as the Weald Foundation are delighted as these New Zealand Carriers fit perfectly into our policy to collecting and restoring “forgotten” vehicles to running condition.
Although the Foundation is well-known for some spectacular German Panzers such the Jagdpanther 411 and two MIAG Sturmgeschütz our drive has been to find and restore the lesser known German reconnaissance vehicles from Aufklärungsabteilungen (reconnaissance detachments) several which are currently in our workshop.
What is less well known is that the other part of the Weald collection consisting of the Renault FT and TSF from World War I and vehicles of the British Empire. We are trying to remind people that the Imperial Army was not just British. In due course we will put into the light vehicles built and designed by South Africa, Australia, India and now New Zealand.
The New Zealand Carrier project joins our two South African Reconnaissance Cars Mk. III (Marmon Herrington) and an Australian Local Pattern Carrier.
If you have any question just let me know. It will probably be some weeks before the New Zealand carriers are moved to the Foundation’s premises.

Hence I have merged this thread with an earlier thread on James' Wheeled Carriers.

Very good to see the Weald Foundation is acquiring and restoring rare Commonwealth armour as well. Their standard of restoration is stunning and I can't wait to see the finished result.
