1 Attachment(s)
Hello gents . Just acquired this bin for the smoke generators . It took me a few years to find it and for some time i thought i would have to reproduce it . Thanks to a good friend ( thanks D ) i now have an original . It’s brand new FM CO 1944 marked ! Here is my question : How & where do you mount it and with what screws under the front glacis ( armor ) of the Carrier ? Pictures and advise appreciated . Thanks . Bob

Hi Robert, check my thread, I think there are few pics.
Three countersunk screws through the glacis, I believe. |
Link please Petr. Thanks

Here is something - two countersunk and possibly two hexagonal screws which holds towing rope bracket?
http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...t=21393&page=6 I can check it within few days when in garrage. |
Can’t find it . By the way to anyone interested : Modern 81 mm mortar round cardboard tubes / canisters fit perfectly in the bin . If you cut the tubes to lenght you can fit 6 in there just like the originals . I will post pictures soon .Perfect reproduction containers. Now where do you find those tubes ? Look into garbage containers after a mortar shoot on your nearest base . They are free !

Need one of those for my Mk2 too !

As promised . Here are the 81 mm mortar cardboard tubes . You can fit 6 in there just like the originals ! Richard , keep looking but reproducing a friend’s original might be the only solution. Cheers . Bob

By the way my friends . What is this bin ? Leegwater calls it a document box for a Carrier on their website . What Carrier and where please ?
|
The “document bin” is for documents. It’s for the Mk1 Carriers.

Thank you Jordan .

Found the four holes to screw in the bin under the glacis ! Petr it’s not the steel rope holder , it’s just beside it ! It took 3 hours this morning to find them and unscrew the rusted bolts .... Victory .

Now the bin is in it’s place ! Lot’s of work for that one .

Again, another small interesting difference between british and canadians carriers. Slightly different layout of holes on mine. Anyway, you got the point.
This type of document bin is also used on Mk.II Mortar Carriers. |
Thanks Petr , all good to know . More knowledge for all of us. This brings this thread to an end . Thanks for watching . Cheers out .
