Cab13 headlight bucket mounting

Hi all

What type of fasteners are used to mount the headlight buckets to the nose cowl on a Cab13.

I think if I were to use machine screws and nuts I’d have to bend my arm in non normal ways.

I don't guarantee that this is original/correct for CMP use but I have found similar on Cab 13s https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/detail...ith_UNuts.html

or https://www.fillingstation.com/detai...SCREW_KIT.html

I found the same clip nuts at Napa

Hi Jordan

I found them at my local NAPA store I checked NAPA on line Canada and they are shown under "body nuts" they are just little spring clip with pan head sheet metal screw.

The filling stations price seem fair but NAPA might be quicker to get.

Really enjoying your progress.

Cheers Phil

I think they are sometimes referred to as speed nuts?

rob love 06-06-20 23:11

I usually see them listed as U nuts or clip nuts.

Phil Waterman 07-06-20 14:33

Yes but NAPA puts them under body nuts, go figure

Hi Rob and Lynn

I agree with you U nuts, clip nuts, or speed nuts are the proper names, but NAPAs search system is a little strange or peculiar.

So sometimes it takes a little time to figure out what a none automotive person would call something. I didn't check but they may also be listed under finnigan nuts they're on the shelf with the high speed muffler bearings, right next to the phennody rods.

This why I buy most of my automotive parts through a little independent NAPA store most of the time the owner is on the counter. He has been a counter person for probably 30 years still keeps a set of paper catalogs under the counter. When is nephew is on the counter I only ask for simple stuff that I know he can find in the computer.

Let us know where you find them.

Cheers Phil
