Interesting Ford in PNG 1 Attachment(s) https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/C394114 I've not seen a Ford like this one ! The tub is a typical Australian well sided ute body but the cab is unusual on a car type Ford |

Impressed Impressed in NG? Seems to be a whole row of odd-balls in the background. Mike |

Attachment 120565 It is a 1939 Plymouth roadster utility. Attachment 120567 The first thing I noticed was how the bonnet lifted up one side with a centre hinge and the bead around the front wheel arch. Attachment 120568 The Fords of that era had a one piece bonnet with sides down to the mudguards and no bead. Cheers Rick |

Impressed in NG Well spotted Rick! Somewhere in AWM126, I remember there was a page of odd-ball vehicles headed 'Impressed in New Guinea'. Unfortunately, I don't have a volume or location reference for that page, but I'm sure someone will chance upon it eventually. A comparison between the vehicles visible in the image, and that page, may prove interesting. Mike |

Once again those drawings showing fat dumpy vehicles as lowered streamliners remind me of the "artist's Impression" in real estate advertisements. A new housing development at Ayers Rock (Uluru) was drawn not only with green grass and tall trees but a lovely winding road just a short walk from the Gold Coast whose pristine surf beaches can be seen from your bedroom window 3,000km away.
