Corowa 1984

I remember seeing this QL at Corowa in 1984. Col Anderson restored it in about 5 months , he fitted a GMC 270 engine. This vehicle appeared in the ABC mini TV series CHANGI as a Japanese army truck.

I commented to Colin about the nice straight bodywork on the truck and he replied " I don't mind a bit of panel beating "

Hi Mike,
That is a QLB Bofors gun tractor, a number went to Australia. You can see the winch guide rollers under the cab. Did Tim Vibert have this truck later on?

Hi Richard

I am not sure where Colin found this particular QL that he restored. I can remember back to the early 1980s when there was a high interest in QL's with Tim Vibert running a illustrated 'Wanted to Buy' advert in the Weekly Times or a similar rural newspaper. At the time, Tim was chasing after QL Bedfords. Colin's QL may have been a Tim V. find, but Colin had a knack for finding rare uncommon vehicles, it would not surprise me if Colin found this particular QL himself. Back in those days Colin and Tim would arrive at Corowa with a unusual and different vehicle every year.

I have seen the QLBs in the AWM126 register.
