A good read thanks Mike. Interesting that it states the first 77 Jeeps had Willys supplied engines, but no mention that the first 1000 also used a Willys chassis.
A time when North American production was at its greatest and a time I look at North America with great respect for its capabilities.

Lynn, I read that chapter to mean that while the first Ford Jeeps (GP) used Ford's 9N tractor block, they were compelled by the Ordnance Dept to utilise Willys' engine design, and the first month of production at the Rouge Plant (Jan '42) using the new engine (GPW) turned out 77 Jeeps. I don't think it means that only the first 77 Jeeps (or any specified number) had engines supplied by Willys.
