Dodge Voltage Regulator

4 Attachment(s)
Came in a box of other stuff, and I have no use for it.

Chrysler marked (manufactured by Autolite) Voltage Regulator, model VRY-4202A.

6 Volt, Positive Ground, 25 Amp. Unit appears NOS, but is missing the two nuts holding on the top cover (gasket and/or grommets are holding cover on tight, I have not tried to prise the cover off). Also, one of the mounting feet has broken off, I do not have that foot, it did not come with the regulator.

VRY-4202A was used on Dodge 1/2 Ton WC. It may have also been used on other Dodge vehicles. It is the same size/design as the Voltage Regulators used on Jeeps and CCKW, but I understand they were an Autolite VRY-4203A. How that differs I don't know.

40 Amps

Hi
The jeep version is 40 amps and negative ground.

I used to think : why are mechanical regulators polarity dependant ? This explains why.

"The neg./pos. designation on the regulator has to do with the dissimilar metals in the regulator contacts. The arm is a different alloy than the fixed contact to reduce contact arcing, those alloys will be positioned in one configuration for pos, ground and in the reversed config. for neg. ground. The regulator (or cutout) will function the same in either neg. or pos. ground but when a pos. ground unit is connected neg. ground it will have a shorter life span."
