Ford cab 12 fat quad resto

Yes here we are we are father and son peter and tristan and we purchased this fgt lastweek . A lot of thanks to pierre rieu who gave us this upportunity to resto a fgt. Last week we took it to our home in zeeland. At this moment we are taking a lot of pictures witch we can show to you.
Of course do we want to find out the history of this fat.
We found some plates s/m v-4513 2020. and a body plate as you can see on de pictures.
The body is in bad condition but engine drive line and winch is there. Even the air compressor.

Beautifull FGT! Congratulation! Good Luck with the restoration! Thanks for sharing!

Peter, Tristan,

Welcome! Lovely project!

Hanno and I did indeed have a look at this FAT and the second one with the restored chassis when they were still in Leo de Groot's collection. The one with the restored chassis came from the UK, from forum member Rob "rnixartillery"...I am not sure if your FAT also came from him.

A number of Cab 12 FAT's can be seen in pictures and film footage in Holland 1945. Be sure to have a look in this thread:

Peter,

" s/m v-4513 2020" is the contract number.

If you search the forum, you will find some interesting info in this thread, where Hanno links to other threads on the forum:

http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...d.php?p=271837

David Hayward has this in his files:
S/M 2020 EC011QF assembled under Contract [294/]V/4513

If you than cross reference SM2020 to the Chilwill list, you will find the Census numbers for the Chevrolets and Fords in this contract. For your Ford the original numbers on the door would be in this range:

Ford H 4541694-4542693, Tractor 4x4 Field Artillery, SM2020

Hi Peter, I have cleaned up some of the test posts, seems you have worked out how to attach pictures.

If you get a "missing token" message, your picture size is too large. Try attaching them one by one instead of five at a time. The forum software has the capability to compress the pictures, but only to a limited extent. So if you have really large size pictures you may need to resize them before uploading.

Thanks hanno I will ask him where the fgt came from.

Now i want to start a quiz, the fgt has two seats not original to the vehicle but they look old and they have military paint on them.Any ideas where they came from?

And thanks for cleaning up my test thread.

Next question,Rob van meel sells Manuals so i asked him what manual do i need because in his advertisements you can only see the front. His answer was ask hanno. So hanno if you have the time maybe you can advise me.

Greetings peter and tristan.

Hello Peter and Tristan,

You will need a Ford Maintenance Manual and a Spare Parts list. Rob van Meel sells copies of the maintenance manual:

This is the first version which is more focussed on "driving - maintenance - repair" by the driver: https://robvanmeel.nl/product/ford-c...ns-book-212-p/
The later MB-F1 manual is more elaborate: https://robvanmeel.nl/product/ford-1...nce-man-397-p/

I will see if I have any spare copies of orignals for you.

The spare parts list FGT-01 is harder to find, although they appear for sale every now and then, e.g. https://www.justparts.com.au/parts-f...tor/JTM4108773 (I think this one is sold).

Hi Peter,

I just remembered, for your FGT the Ford Illustrated Army Parts Catalogue 1940-1942 SE39-42 may be more suitable. It lists spare parts for all models of Ford CMP with Cab 11 and 12. This was later superceded by separate spare parts lists per model like the one listed above. SE39-42 may be easier to find than the FGT-01.

By the way, https://paperprint.be/ also sell a number of CMP manuals.
