MCC C4 in Holland
 

A MCC C4 mk 2 currently being restored in Holland by Jakob Oud .

Who can ID the weird number on the bonnet with a X prefix ?

Well I always understood the 'X' prefix on a serial number indicated something that had been captured (recaptured??) or grabbed / 'donated' locally.

The X prefix was used on trailers. The number, being a short one, and early, does not compute to a Morris. A C4 with an enamel radiator badge is unusual, probably got it on a rebuild, using the shell from a CS8. C4 normally were not fitted or drilled for a badge.

Going back to the X number, it may be that the truck has been used post war by another nation's forces and X means something else to them!

A very good object it is.....
Hopefully this finding will generate some more findings in Holland like it has in Norway.
It seems as soon as if anyone shows interest it pops up some more vehicles...

Rolf, this Morris-Commercial was part of a batch of vehicles offered for sale in Southern France last year. Jakob and another Dutch collector bought the C4, a Dodge D15, Ford 15-cwt WOT and a British motorcycle. They were part of a French collection which was largely sold off after the owner's father died.
The D15 was offered for sale on MilWeb, and I copied the ad here. One thing led to another, and Erwin collected his new acquisition from Jakob's place last December.

Perhaps you manage to find one anyhow....
But it seems as most known C4's in existence is found in Norway.
Have "found" 10 last Year although one of them did go to the melting pot last summer.
Regarding D15, D60, there are also some to be found in Norway, and we will try locating as many as possible.
Geir's D15 water Bowser is just exelent and I guess he will have it on the road this Year. And for sure, it will be presented in Mud & Snow in due time.
And if I do my job right as an editor, it will help saving vehicles, just by presenting a bit rare vehicles, making people realising there is more than GMC's and jeeps....
