A long shot. Ford V8 heads...
 

Hi folks!

I am not a carrier guy. I would have no clue how difficult V8 Ford carrier heads are to find. 3 years ago, I was called by a guy who offered me Jeep heads. They turned out to be Ford V8 heads...not in the best of conditions. The background story is, that we had many Flak positions in WWII in our area. The supply depot still exists and was used by the post war German army and is now used by many truck and vehicle restoration guys. They found several dozen of these heads on the premisis. What remains unclear is, if they originate from a time the Wehrmacht used the depot for storage and maintenance of captured vehicles (which they did) or from the time the post war Bundeswehr used the Universal Carriers and kept some there.

They were not in pretty shape. But if it is worthwhile, I could ask if they are still there.

There are a number of variations to the heads in the first place, so the model or part number of what is available would be important.

That said, here in Canada good heads for Ford flatheads are not particularly hard to come by.

There is a good video of the history of the Ford plant and it was never bombed during WW2. It continued to manufacture vehicles through out WW2. Newc

Why do you think they can only be from Carriers? Ford CMP's also used the ford V8, and in far greater numbers.

Photos would be good, that way we can determine if they are German, French, British, US, or even Canadian heads.

Firstly Lars, What kind of carrier are you talking about? British or Canadian.
British carriers were built with British, Canadian and American engines. Canadian carriers only had Canadian engines. A British head has the cylinder layout cast on it, and most likely has 18mm plugs.
Most Canadian heads have a "C" at the start of the part number and most heads have a part number on them. Example C81T- 6050 (its matching head from memory would be C81T- 6049)
Canadian Universal carriers had a headlight shaped like those on a cab 11 or cab 12 CMP truck(drum type) A British carrier has headlights that are pointy at the back.

As I said, I have no clue. I will ask and if they are still there, take pictures.
Then we will know what they are and if any good. All I know is WWII V8 Ford engine.
