Vickers Marking ID please....
1 Attachment(s)
Gentlemen: Cleaning up my WW1 Vickers and photographing some markings. Can anyone enlighten me as to what the attached stamped marking represents. It's located on the tripod.
Your input would be greatly appreciated. Cheers....Robert  |
I have been involved with conversations re this marking on other forums. It is not a Cdn property mark as some assumed. It is found on the indirect fire sights for the Bren gun, and other weapon accessories.
https://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=28229&page=1 I think I have seen a similar stamp on some carrier engines, but don't quote me on that. |
Now this is REALLY odd!
Hey Rob, thanks very much for the insight. But here's something even a bit stranger. Look at my photo and then click on your attachment and scroll down to the 7th entry. Same bloody photo. That one was posted on 02-23-2011 and mine was taken 08-22-2021. Look at the markings on the brass. Very strange indeed. And I stand to be corrected!

I did compare them side to side, and they do appear to be the same tripod. The photo on the thread I linked to was taken from the old vickersgun.com site. Who knows where and when the photo was taken, and by whom. Could well be from whoever you bought it from.
