Mt. Baw Baw Dodge WC

No, this isn't a scene from the Himalayas. A number of these modified Dodge WC were in use at a local ski field during the 1960s , ( yes we have some snow ! ) The Victorian reg. plate is dated from around 1967. I believe the chassis were lengthened.
I've been told that some of the drivers were uni students on a break from uni and the trips from the carpark to the chairlift could be somewhat hair-raising. Used to be one of these Mt. Baw Baw Dodge trucks parked in a yard in Warragul, it was just behind the Jewels supermarket, I saw it sitting there many times back in the 1990s. A VMVC member Ian Led. had another one. Pic was sourced from the Gippsland Facebook page. |

Another earlier ? scene from Mt. Baw Baw with a Dodge WC bus at the car park and a nice Valiant R model car.
Seen in the colour pic: The Dodge bus tyres appear to be the Australian "OLYMPIC" brand 900-16 chevron pattern. I did find out that a batch of these tyres were made during the 1960s or early 70s . Back in the early 1980s I found two of these NOS tyres at we fitted them to the WOT2D front wheels And, another highly modded WC which is currently located in Drouin. This may be a rebodied ex-Baw Baw bus with the extended chassis ? |
One of those Dodge buses still exists in Drouin.
