Sunray, how are the Kangaroo's?

Hello Geoff, just wondering if you or any of the other members have been in touch with the gentlemen from the 1 C.A.C.R..

I know you mentioned that you were to see some on Rememberance Day. Just wondering how they are.

Thanks!

Jason

The Gentleman next to Art Bell is William Miller who flew in for this from Calgary with his son, Bill. The fellow on the left is Vic Norburn. For the life of me I cannot remember the name of the 4th fellow immediately to my right.

Jason, I'll get back to you on the other question!

Keefy.... you got some splainin' to do! :D

Bill Miller 15-02-05 16:37

The other man is...

Harry Ketelaars.

Harry was a 16 year old boy in Tilburg when the "kangaroos" were stationed there in the fall of 1944. he had some interesting stories and some good photos to share. He now lives in Southern Ontario.

I know my Father and I had a good time, it was a bit of an overwhelming day for him. He had not seen another "kangaroo" since 1946.

P.S. My Father and I are travelling to Holland in May for the 60th Anniversary celebrations. Our travel plans are not completely finalized. I should have my complete itinerary in a week or two. He is pretty excited about it.

Bill Miller "Junior"

PPS... as for the other photo... those three sallow gentlemen are proof positive that vegemite isn't any good for you at all.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Bill I live in Calgary as you do. My Grandfather who is no longer with us Karl Lemon was also a Kangaroo. George Hemmings is another Kangaroo who lives in Calgary.

Bill give my best to your Father, I have a C.D. of an old radio broadcast from 1970 that a few of the Roo's were on that I would like to give to your Father.

Please give me a call, I am in the Calgary book.

Thanks

Hi Clive, what kind of pictures are you looking for?

I have 3 pictures of my Grandfather and a few fellow Kangaroos taken with some Dutch children. I also have 2 large group pictures of the unit in front of a large schoolhouse.

I will learn how to post pictures eventually! I hope.

I am looking for pictures of vehicles (Priest and Ram Kangs), close-ups of markings, etc... Not really looking for photos of groups or individuals as these don't fit the format of the series.
I would like these to be scanned at 300DPI and e-mailed, or the print mailed and I will scan and return the print.

Wilco Clive, will do what I can. I have one good one of Priests in convoy on August 7 '44, but that's it for those... suggest you do a screen capture of several other good shots of those at that time from the CANADA AT WAR series, available through the NFB. There's some good stuff there.

Some Ram pics I have and will email accordingly this weekend.
