Nab-holtz jeep book on-line
I see the Lawrence--Nabholtz jeep book is now on-line. Think this is the earlier edition although I see Revised Edition on the cover.

Slatt
I found a slatt grill MB years ago up at Wodonga. Rubbing back the bonnet revealed the blue number W-2032670 and a US white star up near the hinge . The DOD was 12-31 1941. Also visible were Australian numbers , applied over the later layers of green paint.
The Jeep had a hard life, the chassis was fractured in many places. Solid plastic OD green steering wheel , no glove box, early solid wheels. The body tub had many cracks , I have never seen another jeep with so many stress fractures in it, as if this jeep had been driven over a chassis bending test track for years on end. I read recently, somebody has found MB 1XXXX5 the Fifth MB off the line. November 1941. |
