Toggle switches
2 Attachment(s)
Hi all.
I’m in need of some toggle like the rusty example on the right. I picked up some period NOS ones on the left. However they do not fit the dash and the terminals will short out on the dash metal. Unfortunately the originals are too far gone to rebuild. A few even fell apart getting them off the dash. |
What amp rating do you need?

Those toggle switches were a very common generic style of switch, they were made by many different manufacturers. I have some NOS somewhere but god knows where they are. I have boxes of old electronics stuff , all unsorted. Now and then I have a cleanup and some of it is chucked out. I will have a look and see what i can find. The original CMP examples I have come across , taken off the dash, are usually in terrible condition, they were a rather fragile construction with a cheap cardboard/composite insulation backing material. . I think the search term will be ball handle switch. I found a decent copy of your original at a very decent price and in Canada too: https://surplustek.ca/en/toogle-swit...ff-ball-handle
The commercial part number would appear to be 78130TS made by NSI. They can be had from many suppliers (including Walmart) but none of the prices are as cheap as the listing I have given you. |

There is a similar version at Princess Auto for $6.

Thanks all
I’ve got a bunch of the princess auto ones. They are a decent switch. I was just hopeful to find some NOS ones that matched the originals. I do agree the wartime ones were cheaply made. Just trying to undo some of the small screws that held the wires in, the whole housing came apart. |
