Chevrolet (G-4100/7100) in British Service
Dear All,
The company Playmoreit3D has just recently released 1:72 models of the Chevrolet 1½ ton, 4x4 trucks. I went ahead a ordered a G7107 which is the short cargo truck with no winch. I now want to build one in British or Canadian service and need help. According to the book on the type by Andres (se REF) there were around 2731 delivered to the Brits. But pictures? I have found: • p.145 in Andres, a truck with winch in Tunisia/Italy in mud/black. Has a roof hatch (a la CMPs) and tilt. All markings censored out. • Free French trucks (with winch) towing Bofors 40mm AA; stills from a British Pathe film (sorry, did not record that properly). • A 37 Regt. RA (LAA) (Italy, 1943) in Wheels & Tracks, 53, p. 36. Also a mud/black painted truck, and I guess from the depth of the front bumper a version with winch. • IWM SE5732, Java 1946. Could be a Dutch or a British example? WD number a clue? I wonder if there is more to be found; to make life easier one without winch will be appreciated Thanks for any suggestions!
