body

I can see that it maybe has a reproduction body. Not a bad effort by any standard. The original pattern 'checker' plate they used on the floor during WW2 is is not available now, I used the common diamond style plate, it is the only style I could find.

The welding along the full length of the floor where it meets the sides is something I have not seen - the welds should be a series of short welds about 2" long, not one continuous long weld.

The tailgate looks nice but the gauge of steel looks a bit too heavy. I used the plans/drawings that were kindly supplied by a chap in the UK, Ian Richardson , back in the 'snail mail' days, Ian measured up the original 1A2 body on the C8 that I believe Nick Bullock still owns.

Is this C8 for sale, the one that Dirk restored ? http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ighlight=Beath

This is one of the 8(?) 8-cwt trucks Dirk imported from Canada many years ago. Two of them were used to restore this example. I went to view it yesterday and must say it is a very nice little truck. Everything aft of the cab is reproduction, making use of original parts (as patterns) where possible. The engine is a later model with proper oil pressure and runs very sweet.

If you’re in the market for a C8 you should seriously consider this one! The owner, Hans van Ravenzwaai, is asking €25k.

Nice vehicle.

Do you know if it comes with canvas and door tops? Have passed on info to a fellow enthusiast here in UK who is looking for a C8/F8 either 11 or 12 cab. 👍

Canvas and door tops are not present. It is for sale as is - where is.

The C8 was booked in for fitting bespoke rear canvas, but the company is too busy so it currently being sold without canvas cover.

Nice to see those “before” photos.

Maybe Stefan Leegwater or Alex van de Wetering can tell us which one it was?

The C8 with the hand painted door lettering, tree growing behind the cab and the wheel leaning against it, is my C8. The one next to it with the white and orange is the one that used to be at Dirk and Stefan's place under the roof in the front of the yard. I believe Stefan told me that Hans used parts of that one to complete the C8 now for sale.

C8 in Holland

Do any of the C8 trucks in The Netherlands today originate from WW2 era service in Europe ? Or are they all imports from Canada by vehicle enthusiasts ?

Hanno Spoelstra 15-08-24 14:59

Update: this C8 was sold to a collector in the Netherlands.

Alex van de Wetering 29-08-24 10:19

It's good to hear it found a new home so quickly. Hopefully the new owner will join MLU soon.
