This is an M2 30 cal tripod made of aluminum which was apparently an occasional item on Ferret armoured cars. I need a US made one....and I'll trade (preferred) or sell to by what I need. Grey headed one is the aluminum on with no brass insert. Crown marked

The aluminum heads were part of the toboggan mount for the 200 pound toboggan kit. If you look at the one you have, you can see the white paint underneath. There is a bracket which clamps to the toboggan and has this head on it.

The one I have is equiped with standard legs and the cross-bar betweennthe rear legs for the T&E. Baked-on glossy dark grey paint on the head but not the legs.

The tripod legs can go on the aluminum heads. Just as often these can be found with the steel heads swapped onto the toboggan bracket. I believe the Americans had a similar if not the same setup for their toboggans.
