Had a visitor today, it wandered up to the verandah and peeked into the house, then it spotted me and fled across the lawn. About 2.5 feet long, this is a small one. I've seen them well over 4 feet long. A Lace monitor or Goanna.

Trash Pandas are cute, but miserable neighbours. They propagate "fruitfully", and are very adaptive to different habitats. You can have them!

Lizards are cold blooded. It will be minus 20-deg outside tonight, and would transform any lizard from liquid to solid. I can only imagine the joy of breaking lizards into pieces by throwing them on the frozen ground or against trees.

We have lizards here in shilo, where it is considerably colder than the tropical region that Ed and Terry live in. The prairie skink is indigenous to the Shilo area and is one of just 7 species of lizard in Canada. I have seen a few in my yard, but they are measured in inches and not in feet. They are designated an endangered species here. Likely something about trying to survive in -30 climate when you're cold blooded.

Was checking out some derelict CMP’s in a field and suddenly this head popped up from the grass and it came at me. Darn near chased me 40 yards across the field…..modern velociraptor it was

Was that payback for either Thanksgiving or perhaps even Christmas?

It took me until I read this post to recognise what’s in the photo …

Around here, all we get in terms of wild animals (but not yet, too cold still) are these:

Been feeding about 25 turkeys lately......

....they eat 5 pounds of cracked corn and crap out 10 pounds of fertilizer....... nice to see them around the bird feeders......... but very easy to spook....... just have to yell......"GRAVY".... seen the first Robin today.....

Not sure I want to be to hasty to get rid of them.... with the trade war they would come handy....some how stuff racoon is not appealing!!!!
