B set antenna cage dimensions
1 Attachment(s)
Can anybody help me with the dimensions of the B set antenna mount protective cage. I would like to replicate one for my carrier but would like to have proper measurements from an original one to go by.
Thanks for any help. Regards,Derk |
Hi Derk.
IIRC, somebody posted machinists drawings for this on another MLU thread a few years ago. Either the Wireless section or a Restoration thread for a particular vehicle that was 19-Set equipped. David |
I searched the entire 72 pages on the carrier forum and searched the wireless forum for dimensions but never searched the restoration forum. I’ll try there.
Thanks,Derk |

If you want to borrow mine to copy, we can pull it off when you are out next month and it's a bit warmer.

I’m just curious about the circumference of the top round guard. I measured Gord’s and I know it’s 1/2 inch metal and I can figure out height and clamps from the photo but not sure how wide the diameter of the top ring should be made.
I’ve searched the forum’s and can’t find any measurements on this cage. I was hoping somebody could measure their cage for measurements. Otherwise next time I’m out at your place or Gord’s I can take measurements. Thanks,Derk |

I just measured mine with a Vernier and it's 6". Ron

I don't have one here to measure but ALL the real ones that I have seen are made from 1/2" x 1/8" black steel (ie. with slightly rounded edges) as in Ron's photos in post #7. I suspect that the one in post#1 is a repro as it looks to be made of 1/2" x 3/16" bar.

Thank you gentlemen. That’s what I needed to know! Now I’ll start fabricating. Stay tuned!
