Toronto Sun newspaper readers

Whilst I don't wish this post to appear parochial, and with due deference to our international MLU membership, readers of the 3 Mar 05 edition of the Toronto Sun will, on page 3, see a picture of Michael Jackson, accused 46 year old rocker accused of child molestation.

Enough of the preamble...sharp eyed readers in the Toronto area will notice that Jackson sports a necklace pendant which is strikingly familiar to me.

It's a dead ringer for the old Royal Canadian Army Service Corps hat badge. Picture definition is not such that whether or not "Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense" and the RCASC lettering is visible.

What the bloody hell?:eek: :confused: :mad:

I have access to high-resolution press photos, so I studied some of the Jacko shots as enlarged as I could - he seems to have a few badges and orders he wears as medals, with his ersatz Sargeant Pepper uniform fashion as well as a blazer crest that looks like it has a king's crown and maple leaves, with a shield with "NY" (North York?)

The one you must be talking about appears to have the Hon Soit Qui Mal Y Pense in the belt circling the red centre with ER , Queen's crown - all I can make out clearly in the best view I could find.

Anyone can buy stuff from a militaria dealer - as for Jacko's regalia fetish, who knows, who cares ...it's probably the least weird of his, ahem, eccentricities.

Surely some mistake.

He may be off it, but certainly no rocker.

Jon,

I have seen a pic in the papers some time ago of him wearing a coat with that badge on. I am sure it was reported to have been the Royal Corps of Transport badge, which is similar to the old RASC or RCASC. Could be either of them.

Jon;

Thought you might find this of interest, from the online SUN in the UK: British Army Regimental/Corps Badges, seen being worn by Jackson in court.

Cheers
