The tale of a C60S
5 Attachment(s)
Once upon a time, Johan Dieffenbach - a renowned military vehicle collector from Belgium - used a Chevrolet C60S chassis to create a Signals Line Construction truck. The conversion was most likely carried out at least 20 years ago.

Sometime after 2014, the Signals body was transferred back onto the U.S. Chevrolet 1.5-ton chassis/cab it came off originally. The Chevrolet C60S was parted out, and the Cab 13 was sold to another collector. Attachment 141283 Attachment 141284 Attachment 141294 Attachment 141295 |
Sad ending

Ca. 2015, the Cab 13 was bought by a man who wanted to restore a Frankentruck. Recently, he lost his storage and was forced to put his project up for sale.
Sadly, ALL was sold to a scrapman as he was the highest bidder  I hope the scrapman is wise enough to not put the cab in the shredder, so maybe one day it will pop up again? Attachment 141292 |

Turns out there was no scrapman, at least not before Egbert and I went to see it. This piece of yard art was looking rather sorry for itself, but we decided to recover it. The owner + wife of the garden where it was stored (not the owner of the cab) was very happy to see it go.
It is always better to cart it off and stash it away to find a proper use for it, than having someone else scrap it. Attachment 141490 Attachment 141491 Attachment 141492 Attachment 141493 |
