Corowa and other stuff
I looked up Corowa and it's not even listed in my old atlas. Found Yass in NSW. Six hours by carrier!!!
Would y'all believe that I took a telephone call last night from....Max himself! The message was similar to what he posted above, but he has a relative living not an hour away from me. Max gave me the phone number, so I'll have to ring them up and say hello. When I answered the phone, I exclaimed, upon hearing the Oz accent, "Hi, Keith"...guess I won't live that one down for a while. Cheers and good luck en voyage to Corowa. |

For some reason Max's daughter Emma has it in for me, well, I'm one of many - here's a shot Max took... note the frying pan.

Hey Max, Just been looking at the size of the tyres on your Blitz, no wonder it took you 6 hours to get there, she must have been revving her nuts off :D 7.50-16 if I'm not mistaken. Richard |
That's tickets
Max was driving the F15A with 20" wheels. He had some fuel problems which were ironed out early.
The Yass people are on their high country trip at the moment. |
Yes.
I just have to say once again how very much I like the frying pan touch :D Brilliant photo!

we made it
The blitz's made it home through the high country, but Mark had a spot of trouble with his old truck. he is organising a recovery trip. Two days from home we had to change a water pump on the Ford, but we didn't get a very good seal and it was leking fairly badly. for a start we would only get 7 or 8 miles and have to top it up and then it improved to about 12 miles so we found the best method was to lean over through the manhole lift the bonnet and fill her up on the go, this method was best achieved going up hil whilst going slow and you should have seen the look on one fellow coming the other way whilst I was leaning over filiing her up. We are all a little bit tired now after this adventure and I must go and unpack now and bring in the washing.

What an adventure!
I really wanted to go - glad you had a good time - obviously you took the precaution of taking a spare pump. Was it the left one?
And what happened to Russell's Tojo? |

The truck got badly wounded, so we put a bandaid on to try and fix it. Still waiting for its wounds to heal :yappy: :D :yappy:

Sounds like
...an all-Aussie adventure for Russ...
Hope the band-aid helped. At least the drop bears  kept out of sight. |

Tojo Buggerem up
The photo as shown of the broken Tojo actually details the wrong part. The gearbox is fine and the band aid was not really required at this point.
But me bloody crankshaft can now spin in opposite directions from the front to the rear. I must say that Max was driving the Tojo only minutes before the explosion. Not that I am blamin him for being a little rough it was just time for this vital part to fly apart. Any way on the way home I got to co pilot a Blitz for 5 days with Max. Max is now the owner of a very polished gear set. OLD TWUKS at the Hedges.:D |

Sounds very special to be able to turn both ways at once but not very productive in the horsepower department. Could it have been sabotage at the factory? Perhaps it was uncomfortable with all those allied vehicles around. Sounds like you might have to put that bit out to pasture to become suitabwy wusty. |
Gun Tractor Buggerem UP
Hey Keefie I have just driven your gun twacta over to the loading ramp at Maxs place. Put me foot down to stop and rolled all the way to the Yass River. We pulled it out with the farm tractor but the engine gota mouth full of Carp.
Max has another front shell to replace your one that is stilll stuck in the Willow Tree. Regards Mark at the Hedges. |
OK
Just as long as long as the gears didn't get a polishing.
The missing brake line is in my shed. |
