The first one is probably one of the 12 Fargo 75mm as sent from Morocco to Tunisia in 1942 (Touzin)

1940 Dodge 3 ton

There isn't a lot left of the first truck, but the radiator grille trim is the distinctive 1940 pattern - quite different from 1939 and 1941-47, so I'd suggest it is a 1940 Dodge 3 ton VK series chassis.

It could have been badged as Dodge or Fargo, depending on the route it took to get where it ended up.

Ah, OK

Never argue with anyone whop actually HAS a VK, that's what I say.

It's definitely 1940, from the grille, but it's too big to be a VC military Dodge (wrong cab /cowl configuration anyway) and doesn't look heavy enough to be a VF miltary for sure.

I'd guess a VF 1.5 ton civilian or something like that then?

VF

Hi Gordon

Hmm VF doesnt sound a million miles out agreed, but as I'm not too savvy on these other models I couldnt say for sure.....

Attilio

I read with interest your first message above. My interest is the Ford GPA Amphibious Jeep.

The American and British troops took them through Italy in 1943 and I thought there may be photos in the Official Photo Archive of Regio Esercito. I have not been able to find photos on-line.

Have you seen such photos?

Ian

Photo of archivio storico

Recently in Archivio Storico I have only searched photo of italian army in North Africa.

I don't know if there are some pics of the jeep of the Ford GPA Amphibious Jeep.

I think in the next months i will go to Rome for a further visit to the Archivio.

I can search what you are interested

Best regards

Attilio

Attilio

That would be great, thank you. It is amazing what turns up in archives that you would least expect.

Photo numbers would assist with ordering.

Drop an email if you want.

Regards

Ian
