1939 Polish Chevrolets
I am working with a Polish historian who is writing about the Chevrolets assembled inWarsaw, 1938-39, that were used by the Polish Army when the Wehrmacht invaded. One armoured [in 1944] Chevrolet survives in a Warswa museum that was used in the Warsaw Uprising in August 1944. Does anyone have any information please on the Polish Chevys?

I know this is old, but

Sadly, a quick look through my organized Polish photos turned up nothing on Chevs, however as A GM historian you may be interested in some other stuff that just turned up. I kept a lot of the sets or years of magazines I mentioned yesterday but a lot of others I just picked up or for some other reason cut up for pics of American vehicles in whatever country the magazine came from. I will post a few items just to see if this is stuff you are interested in. If so, I can post to the photo sites I set up and you can access more from those. This is a 1939 Buick with mods in post war Riga, Latvia |

This one may not turn out, it is a half tone from American Automobile Exporter 1947. Not good. If your software can expand it fine, if not I will send it another way.

Last one for this batch. You need to let me know if you are interested in any GM products in any country, are you interested in postwar as well as prewar and wartime vehicles?
I can post somewhere over time, a hell of a lot of this kind of stuff if it is of interest. I made the decision today to purchase a more "commercial" level scanner and attendant software for editing as the one I have is a real "base level" outfit and has crappy software. I am managing as best I can but it is very time consuming and the results are often less than I would like to see. This pic is of a '56 Chev in Rangoon, Burma, pic taken in the early 1970s. |
Overseas Chevrolets
Thanks for the pix...the Buick may well be one assembled by Lilpop Rau und Loewenstein in Warsaw.
I tried to blow-up the table but it was undreadable. If you can do another scan and e mail me direct when convenient then that would be excellent. |

Sorry to stay off topic for a sec.
Turkish Taxi. I have about 25 pics of these, all makes and models. Do you know the history of these conversions, at least the GM ones. They are from Finnish mags and I cannot really translate Finnish well. I am transferring all images to a photo site tonite. Bill |
Conversions
There was I seem to remember a Turkish company or companies that carried out these 'Aerobus' type conversions, on GM, Chrysler, etc. chassis.
