Estonian War Office MCC trucks
 

These are from the BMIHT, Gaydon, and I am trying to work out whether they are British War Department standard or not, and their model types:

They look like the civilian model, Leader. I seem to remember identifying a Leader before, was it on your WD Trials pictures?

Hello David:
I have been on my favourite Estonian site for almost an hour and came up with one sole Morris of 1937, a civvie one.
Go to http://eag.unicweb.ee/english.html
for hundreds of photos of both civilian and military cars, trucks and busses resident in Estonia from the beginning to the 1950s.

I only found the English translation button just a moment ago and do not know if it works for the whole thing. It is in three/four sections and can give you a real headache if you try to figure out the Estonian language.

Anyway, here is the photo.

Take a close look at the radiators in your photos and Bill's. There is a script badge on the top left at an angle. I have just found a pic of a civvy MCC of 1937 and it clearly says "Leader".

Yes, Richard:
Sorry, I thought we had already decided it was in all probability a Leader. The site only has around 120x150 size photos and blowing it up loses a bit. But, I have seen also period adverts etc. and I am quite certain that is what we have here.
Now, if we can just find out any more info about this purchase and if there were other tests carried out on other trucks.

The trucks were acquired by the Estonian War Office in 1937 I gather. Does anyone know what the MCC model designation was for these? CS10/80? CS11/30? The British WD Trials Report applies the designation 'Leader' to CS10/80, CS11/30 and CS14/80 vehicles plus the C.2 dual-control driver educational vehicle.

This sadly adds nothing, David, but it seems MCC gave the name Leader to a whole range of trucks rather than just one model.
I have beaten Google to death and cannot come up with any Estonian Military history site that is helpful

Somewhere in the cellar I may have some old Morris materiel, civilian, and I am just now going down there to have a look.

At least it is now finally autumn here and there are not so many bloody spiders down there.:devil:

Thanks very much for your help! Very interesting!! I have bought the print off of the IWM of this CS13..dating to at least March 1938 apparently.

I truly wish I could do more, David, but my prewar collection on British trucks leaves a lot to be desired. Just the odd bit here and there.
I do have all of Bart's books on various vehicle subjects that covered busses, wreckers, cars etc., the Warne series from the early 1970's, and they have tons of interesting pics but not much miliitary stuff. I also have a pretty complete collection of Old Motor which is where Bart started but they are also buried in the cellar. Previous experience indicates there might be one military photo per issue so it is rather tedious to go through all of them.

As you are resident in the UK, perhaps you could contact whatever is left of the various Morris enthusiast clubs for information. In the '60s and '70s, they were very helpful, not just Morris but clubs dedicated to any mark.

Actually, I got bumper/grille badges from several clubs in the UK just because I contacted them. They now proudly adorn my genuine English pub bar that resides on the smoking side of our porch looking over the back garden.

I will of course keep looking.
