39/40 Ford
1 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone
I was wondeirng if someone could tell me if the CDN army or other 2 forces would have used the 39/40 Ford Tudor Sedan. I ask because a 1/25 sclae model was just relaesed the other week. I built about 2 years ago a model of the the Ford Woody in an army scheme and thought this would be a good companion to it. I also looked throught the book "Canada's Fighting Vehicles 43-45" but it only showed the 4 door version. Here is a picture of the box art. it shows the street rod version but you can also build stock for 39 or 40. |
Tudor
I have a photo of an RCAF 1941 Chevrolet 2-door Town Sedan so would suggest that impressed or donated Ford Tudors, especially 1940 Models, could have been used. However I have never seen a photo of one, and just one ex-Military 1940 Mercury.

Ford Tudor
Hi there
It wasn't army issue, but as David said, hundreds of civillian cars were pressed into military service early in the war. I'd be fairly confident building it as issued to one of the first units in the UK like 1 CID or in domestic service in Canada. I've built two Heavy Utilities using the AMT 41 Ford Woody. http://milifax2003.tripod.com/linkfordHU.jpg Steve |

Thanks David and Steve
Maybe I will get one now. Steve I built up one of the AMT Woodies from the article you did a few years back. Made mine a RHLI vehicle from some colour footage we found in the Rgt. Museum. |
