Transport & Toy Museum Wanaka

I visited today during my NZ tour the Transport & Toy Museum in Wanaka. The had lots of old toys, motorcycles. cars, trucks and even tanks (Centurion).
Very sad that for about half the collection isn't enough space under a shelter, so they have to be stored outside :-( Old Study. Max drove a similar one to the VP Day in Canberra earlier this year. |

That 60 in the winning post is a C60L And the funny fire tender is (or once was) a kiwi Indian Pattern rear engined armoured car. The short wheelbase CMPs are C8AX. |
Zemsi, are you going to stick around for Easter?
Gerald Rhodes' collection in the Wanaka Museum is quite impressive, but most of the exhibits have come from Australia! The Chev Monkeyface has been imported from Australia, and I understand Mike Kelly might know something of the restorer. The Studebaker, the Wiles Cooker (behind the C60L), and the Centurion are all from Aust and I know the sellers. The Lockheed is also Australian and was flown to NZ some years ago on tour and had airworthyness issues and was prevented from leaving the country, being sold for a pittance. The Carrier was restored by and bought from Jeff Plowman, of Kiwis in Armour. |

Good Day Mates
Thanx for your explanations. Unfortunately I have to leave NZ in 2 weeks, going back to Max's places. So I woun't be around to see the Anniversary Airshow in Wanaka, how sad :( Would love to see it. I've already been to Flying Legends in Duxford. Awsome show with Warbirs. Went there in July this Year. They flew around 9 Spitfires and 4 Mustangs, 2 B25 (one from Switzerland), 2 x B17 etc. Greetings from Wanaka Chris |
