Need lug nuts

1 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone! Got my new tyres on, thanks to all for your input and friendly advice. I have a new, small problem; my C15 is missing 4 lugnuts and I would dearly love to find 4 more to install. I've checked the obvious places and local tyre stores around here to no avail. Anyone know of a source for left-hand thread lug nuts? The lug nuts take a 15/16ths socket and I believe the stud is 9/16ths?) I'm sure y'all will correct me if I'm wrong! I also included a pic of the detritus left over after the removal of a very old tyre from a very rusty rim! CHIMO!

Nuts

Have a chat to Max Hedges - he has NOS nuts if you'd like to have them sent from Australia.

I'm assuming the nuts are the red painted ones to hold the halves of the wheel together - they're all right hand thread.

No, I've got all the red painted, larger nuts for the combat rims. I wouldn't want to drive around with any of those missing! It's the plain old lug nuts I'm missing.

Thanks Alex, I'll give them a try. I used to own a 1965 CJ6 that was built by Kaiser when they owned Jeep that had left hand thread lug nuts. Couldn't figure out why the darn things wouldn't come off, until I spotted an "L" stamped on the end of the wheel stud. DOH!

Barry Churcher 09-12-05 03:49

I believe I have a few NOS nuts. I can look on the weekend and make sure they are left hand thread. I can send 4 if US Customs is letting any more "nuts" across the border.;)
Cheers,
Barry

Well, U.S. Customs let this nut across the border! LOL! A few more shouldn't hurt! Speaking of nuts, if any of you M.L.U.types are ever in this neck of the woods, make sure you stop by and look me up.
Kidding aside, let me know what you need for the lug nuts, s. & h. etc. and I'll be glad to mail it forthwith!
Thanks! Derek.

"lug nuts"

I bought both RHT and LHT from Max and they are perfect. A little longer than the original, but do the trick. I think they may be from an old Leyland truck sold here in Australia.

alleramilitaria 09-12-05 06:18

they may be the same as ferret lugs, in that case you might try the G-503 armor section.
you going to be at the reeinactment this weekend?

lug nuts

Gidday Derek, Ive got 6 LH lug nuts staring at me right now, there off a Chev FAT, so if your still in need of them let me know as my son is flying to your part of the world in a weeks time, when he gets to Montana he can post them to you if that suits. Cheers David...

Hi Dirk, I just have one question.....Do you sell them by the kilo or by the bushel?

Thank all of you for your kind offers! The spirit of generosity and cooperation that pervades this website never ceases to impress me! You're all great and one day we need to have an MLU convention somewhere so we can all down a few pints, litres, quarts, steins or flagons or whatever your system of measurement is of ale and swap some tall tales!
I think its probably easiest to take Dave Ellery's kind offer with his son coming to the U.S. in a week's time and I'll be contacting him. Once again, thanks to you all!

Ladies and gentlemen, honoured guests, fellow M.L.U.ers! May I propose a belated New Year's toast to Dave Ellery. A gentleman who's generosity is only exceeded by his good looks, savoir faire, and handiness with the ladies! Mr. Ellery, with the help of his equally capable son, managed to transport 6 lugnuts half way around the world to aid a fellow lover and restorer of the greatest military transport vehicle ever devised!

Houston! The lug nuts have landed!

Thank you David! Would you kindly PM me with your mailing address in N.Z. so that I may send you a small token of my appreciation?

:note:  :salute: CHIMO!

Thank you Max and Dave!

Update for this thread. Max, your package arrived. Thank you very much! I'd like the entire MLU forum to know how generous it was for both Max Hedges and Dave Ellery to offer without hesitation to ship me lug nuts and studs all the way from Australia and New Zealand. Neither have asked for a penny in compensation! Is such generosity peculiar to the Southern hemisphere? Perhaps it comes from hanging by your feet your entire life! LOL!
Mr. Hedges, if you ever need an item from my neck of the woods, please don't hesitate to ask. I'll be sending you a small token of my appreciation shortly.
Mr. Ellery, I make the same offer to you and please PM me with your mailing address, I have a something for you also.
Once again, thank you gentlemen!

 :salute: :drunk: CHIMO!

THE ENGINEER GREETING
1. 22. The CME greeting or toast is “Chimo” - pronounced Chee-mo (with emphasis on the first syllable). This expression is also often used as a closing on correspondence between Engineers. The word Chimo is derived from the Inuktitut greeting: “saimo” (saimu) that means “hello,” “goodbye,” “peace be with you,” and similar sentiments. This salutation was used in the Ungava region of Northern Quebec and shares the same derivation as Fort Chimo (today Kuujjuaq) on Ungava Bay in northern Quebec. The current spelling and pronunciation is based on a Caucasian adaptation of the native language.
2. 23. This greeting was introduced to the CME during the turmoil of Unification to provide the stability of a common symbolism. It was derived from the northern culture at a time when the CME was involved in the development of Canada’s North. The friendly connotation of the word is reflective of the CME as Engineers are renowned for lending a friendly and helpful hand to the local population at home and on peacekeeping and humanitarian missions.

Hope this helps, Derek.

My pleasure Barry! Everyone in the MLU forum has been very helpful and forthcoming with info that I have requested, I'm glad to be able to respond in kind. That's a great dog you've got there Barry, she's obviously devoted to her master, too bad more females aren't like that....you know....devoted to their masters!

Better to ask what I didn't do to my shoulder:
Played Rugby until I was 35, dirt-biking, hunting, sky-diving, scuba-diving, rappelling, climbing, mountain biking, hockey, baseball, football, I once even carried a Chev small block down stairs into my basement to rebuild it, then, about 4 months ago I loaded 200+ lb. logs into my truck for fire wood. Next day my shoulder hurt a lot...didn't stop hurting so after 3 months of trying to ignore the pain went and had an M.R.I. which revealed torn rotator cuff, frayed bicep tendon, arthritis, bone spurs, and sub-clavian compression. Dang, if I had known I'd live this long I would have paced myself a little better!

BIG MIKE 19-01-06 21:05

Derek Fergot to Dodge that Friing Pan across the Shoulder, LOL
