Wanted green jewel reflectors for CMP
 

Just wondering does anyone reproduce these, If not I am going to give it a go. I have a new old stock one to copy,
Would anyone be interested in a couple if I did?

Hi Jeff

Bear in mind most Australian assembled vehicles did not use them. The ones which did are the cab 12s and possibly the Canadian sourced F15 and F60Ls.

Keith, I have 2 c15s here that had jewels still on them when we bought them. Bob Mosley has one of the old ones to see if they can be reproduced.

I Just looked in the Norm Darwin, History of Holden book, Of all the vehicles that you can see the front bar clearly, only one hasn't got them. I was under the impression only the cab 12 and early cab 13 had them. Jeff

When Did they Stop?
 

Gents,

My C15a is dated 15June42 and ( what I think is ) the original bumper has not big holes for these green reflectors.

When did they stop this practice?

Enquiring minds want to know.

The c15 s are cab 13s that I have, one is early 42 not sure of the other

Hi all, Max your c15's are they holden bodys?
Stewart, It seems some have the holes and reflectors, some just the large holes (no small holes on top and bottom to bolt the reflectors to) and some no holes at all.
I assume they phased it out.

yes they are holden, one was built in Sydney.

I see in the paper this morning some cobber got $200,000.00 for a bale of wool...It was 11.8 fine...whatever that means...

That's a lot of CMP parts and pieces..

Thats 11.8 microns our finest was 15.8 microns, cotton is about 23 microns, it takes a lot of skill to get your wool that fine

Green Jewels
 

Hi guys
I was looking at replicating these but the glass person I was dealing with has let me down. Full of interest but no backup. Since then I have been too busy building but now we are in our new place all projects are coming back on line. I completely dissembled the one I borrowed from Max and they are quite a complex piece of equipment, especially the reflector glass itself with all its facets.

On the topic of jewels I am still looking for information about the other alleged jewel colours, namely white, red and blue.

Bob,

Pop up to Coober Pedy and do a bit of fossicking for opals, then you can cut your own green lens ;)

Mind you, end product would come at a high price !

Brian Asbury probably has these in stock. There were thousands of these scrapped by Levy's when they went under.
