I think this is possibly a rifle or M.G. butt holder for a LP2 carrier. Goes in the lower left front of the hull. Is it used in other Aussie armoured MVs?

Can anyone confirm please?

Brad, do you really need one? I think I saw one of these in my barn last Sunday attached to the big metal hunk. I was trying to clean up enough to walk through so wasn't paying much attention. It is in poor shape but if you are in need I can try to take a photo. It's yours if you need it.
Cheers,
Barry

Will see what I can do.

Brad, here is a couple of photos of the bracket and the piece of flooring cover. You can have one or both, whatever you require. Postage and a beer at your place is payment enough. That's if I ever get down east. Invitations to Gough's cottage on PEI are hard to get.
Cheers,
Barry

Just kidding about Gough's cottage. I have an open invitation but it's always me that can't come. The farthest east I have been is out in the bush someplace close to Fredericton. One of these days. :D
Cheers,
Barry

Brad, how the heck did you pick that out? Yes thats my favourite truck next to a CMP. Dirk Leegwater got me this one for me. It's a three way tipper and is just a dream to drive and play with. It has to be one of the most underated of the military trucks. It uses all the best aspects of the CMP and the CCKW and then you throw in a little Dutch ingenuity.
Cheers,
Barry

Weapon Butt Holder

According to my 1943 Spare Parts Manual and what I have seen on Oz Carriers, there was no provision for a holder of this type. The only provisions were for the Vickers, Lewis, Brens and Boyes.

This pic was labeled LP2, but is it?

LP 2/2A

Keith,

Looks kosher to me, apart from the multi coloured signal flare box on the left side. I think they were generally mounted on the vertical armour to the right of the firing slit.

The rectangular bracket on the floor below the invisible gun is for the Vickers ammo tin, as are the A frame brackets on the LH side shelf. The fixture in front of those is for the Vickers water can.

But I could be wrong. Is this one of those trick questions where you try to identify the suckers ???

Not a trick

No, Jack ... this is a real pic from WW2 and that's what was written on the back.

The real thing

Keith,

Then I reckon the anonymous scribe was a knowledgeable chap. It's the real thing.

You're up early.

Yes, for an AMF/Vickers equipped LP2:
