A sound experiment

If this works, I'll add more...

If you click here and turn up the volume, you should hear one of the most charismatic and rare fighters built during the war, the Australian designed and built Boomerang.

Please let me know whether you can hear it OK.

This is what they look like.

Could be a little louder, although that might make it really frightening! :D

Thanks, Pete - it does that to me as well

Here's a better pic of the Boomerang taken in 2004 over Temora.

I've also made a new page where you can link to the sound of the Spitfire and Lockheed Hudson orbiting together. After the first pass you can hear the Spitfire throttling up and down to keep station.

Thanks Kieth, I love "round sounds!" Actually, I just plain love the sound of aero engines period! There's something about Warbird aero engines that makes one look up into the air to see what's flying by.
One year at the Abbotsford International Air Show we were blessed by having a Spit, a Hurricane, and a Lancaster do a fly-by. It was extremely moving listening to the howl of 6 Merlin engines. I happened to glance to my right and there was a little old lady with a great big grin and tears flowing down her cheeks. I smiled at her and she responded by telling me that she used to build Hurricanes during the war and it moved her immensely to see one still flying.

 :salute: :drunk: CHIMO!

Great sound

Do I hear the wine of supercharger behind that wonderful radial engine sound?

Keith Webb 08-02-06 22:38

Supercharger

Not sure whether the engine is supercharged, but the various whistles are caused by the gun ports and camera gun port...

AWESOME ... I love to hear about the women who served ... especilly wonderful to hear them in person, relating their experiences and impressions. I love all of those women to pieces
 :salute:

Thanks for sharing this one Master Saps ;)

Keith ... I'm sad to say that I don't have speakers at the moment ... will have to find some before I can have a listen, though if I crank up the sound too much I may get evicted  :D ... as ever, the photos you post are so good ... clear and bright as well as totally amazing shots ... and subject matter too, of course

Keith:

Took a while for the buffering to happen on my 26.4 dial-up...but worth the wait.

Maybe you could arm a flight of 'em and strafe the Middle East bad guys, specifically the Lebs, who are creating such havoc in and around Sydney.

Perhaps you could arrange a second pass and do away with Peter Ryan and the perpetrators of the Wood Royal Commission.

We Colonials seem to have similar problems.

Keith Webb 10-02-06 00:45

Strafing

Fortunately Jon, the problems around the Sydney beaches seem to have settled down somewhat...

Perhaps they could water bomb them instead.

More sounds

Just added the Meteor doing a low pass coming from behind at about 100 feet and 250 Kt. It seems quiet at first, but it catches up with you!

And also the Wirraway taking off.
