This is the rear tailshaft off a GMC CCKW that I bought for parts ,
ended up connecting one tow rope to the tailshaft and the other tow rope to the wire and having vehicles drive off in different directions to remove the wire .

Wire

I suppose once you removed the wire the tail shaft fell apart. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

And how did you get the Star Pickets (Waratahs?) out of the tyres?

Hy guys and ladies,i remember having the same problem with fences getting wraped around the drive shaft.
It was on a 42-44 ford jail bar one and a half ton commercial truck, it took two of us a couple of hours to cut and untangle the wire fence parked on a slope with not good brakes!.
must be a common problem

Don't climb the fence drive through the gate

Don't you guys know that trucks are not supposed to climb fences there supposed to drive thought the gate.

But then again it is a good way to wind that old fence wire back up.

Or you could use the system they used on the flails to keep the barbed wire from getting tangled in the drive ends. Details of the wire cutter at the end of the drums. In the picture is Lt.Col RL Franklin (I think) who worked on the development of the funnies.
