Ebay Scam!

Watch out for the scantily clad blonde in ebay motors!

I was just checking the military vehicles for sale on ebay. When the page opened, first and foremost was a picture of an apparently topless blonde and a bid of 12 cents. Being the Horn Dog that I and most red-blooded M.V. collectors are I clicked on the auction. Hmm? It just asked me for my log-in information. I thought I was already logged in. Better double check. Whoa! I am logged in! AAAOOOOGGGAAAHHH! SCAM ALERT! SCAM ALERT!!
My friends, always remember to think with the big head, not the almost as big head when dealing on-line with personal info!

Watch out also for e-mails from e-bay and paypal

In the last weeks I’ve gotten 5 or 6 very real looking and well thought out e-mail supposedly from E-Bay or Paypal all with contact links. Be on the watch (read this as ignore and delete)

PS if you send me an e-mail and I don’t respond send it again with Canadian Military Pattern in the subject, spam detector is set on high.

Make sure to forward those e-mails to spoof@paypal.com or spoof@ebay.com so they can take appropriate measures.

I was recently bidding on a #4mk1T telescope w accessories on ebay. I wasn't too serious about it, and the price went to over $2000. After the auction ended I got a "second chance offer" Later I got another, then another. All looked fairly close to the real thing, except instead of going to some form of buy it now, you were supposed to contact the buyer.
I contacted them and strung them along for a bit, and even managed to get the price lower than what I had even bid, then let them know they were really the third and fourth chance offers.
I've heard of others getting caught on these scams. I have to wonder how the ebay scammers get our emails?

There is another scam going on in ebay. You get a nasty email, apparently from the official ebay site, very angrily asking you where the heck the item is and threatening all sorts of repercussions. The idea is you will then access "your ebay" to see what the heck is going on. Of course, your account info is then sent along to the scammer. I've replied to these phishing expeditions in the most extremely unpleasant manner and have never heard a word back.
