Did you get a chance to read what the guages were for? If for D.C. current, quite likely a search light unit (can't see what is behind the stand). I've also seen Air Raid sirens powered by Ford flatheads, although they were on a rotating turntable with the siren. |
Generator
I currently have one of those in my workshop, 2.2KVA with a DC exciter. I have never been able to find an exact mach in any of the standard reference books but I'm sure it was for either search light or mobile workshop use. I used to have half shares in the unit it came via a clearance sale of a wood yard that was closing down.
It now belongs to Steve Stone OCMPG member with C30 11 Pete |

Are you quite sure of the rated output: 2.2Kva? That's not much for a V8 prime mover, let's do the math: 85 HP X 746 watts/HP X 80% eff. (just to be conservative, got to allow for mechanical losses, hysteresis, windage, and inductive reactance) = 50Kw. for a generator. If it's three phase alternator you multiply that by root 3 to get even higher output. |

It's output is 18KVa. I've got one of these and the manuals to go with it. If you didn't buy it, how much was the seller asking?

Price
He had a very optimistic IMHO price of $1500 on it.
