new track pins
 

anyone need new track pins? i know someone in the hobby that iw willing to take on the project useing hardened steel (440) pins with dbl cotter pin ends for around $3-5 ea depending on the responce i get. let me know if you are intrested. i could probably bring them up to a central place in ontario so shipping would not be too high. for the project i will need at least 1000 pins ordered.

be carefull..
The track pins are designed to wear,as not to wear out the links..
440 stainless would be too hard and wear out your track links in no time..
Just my humble opinion ,..A good project if you could make them out of material of the same specs as the old pins..
I'm sure you could sell a ton of them.

i am NOT making them myself but having a mil spec company make them. but they will not make 200 or 300 at a time. i was hoping that we could work together like we did for the break spring project.

Further to Alex's comment re hardness, your machine shop should be able to do a hardness test to ensure they meet the original spec.

they have already got one of my NOS pins and have told me that it would be no problem. they have made M4EA track parts for the owner and others.

years ago when I was restoring my carrier, I had a couple of pins hardness tested, they came up at 54-56 Rc. What did yours come up at? Keep in mind that T16 track pins are a little shorter than UC pins.

im letting the contractor handle that part (hardnes). he knows what he is doing and is a collector in the hobby to (just not carriers). that is why he is willing to work with me for a great price break. i show up at his events and he helps me with mine.
